Maribel del Pozo Triviño

holds a BA in Spanish Philology from the National University of Ireland and both BA and PhD degrees in Translation and Interpreting from the Universidade de Vigo. She currently serves as Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Internationalisation at the University of Vigo, following previous roles as Assistant Dean for International Relations and Spokesperson for Gender Equality at the Faculty of Philology and Translation. Her extensive teaching career spans both graduate and postgraduate programs in Spain and internationally. She leads the Teaching Innovation Group LINKTERPRETING: Teaching from a Human Rights Viewpoint and coordinates the widely used LINKTERPRETING website, a global resource for interpreter education and self-directed learning. Dr. Del-Pozo-Triviño has supervised numerous doctoral theses and master’s dissertations, and has published extensively on topics including legal and public service translation and interpreting, gender equality, and gender-based violence. She has led several projects, including the EU-funded Speak Out for Support (SOS-VICS) project, the Development Cooperation project MELINCO, and has been a key contributor to JUSTISIGNS2, a European project focused on spoken and signed language interpreting in contexts of gender-based violence. A frequent keynote speaker at international conferences, she is also highly experienced in organizing major academic events. She has represented the University of Vigo in AUnETI (the Spanish Universities Association for Official Translation and Interpretation Degree Programs), and serves as an advisor to Spain’s Ministry of Justice on legislation concerning the linguistic rights of foreign nationals, particularly vulnerable groups such as migrants, refugees, survivors of gender-based violence, and victims of human trafficking. In addition, she maintains strong ties with social organizations, working to improve communication and language access for individuals facing linguistic and cultural barriers.
