Emanuel Tavala

is a Romanian legal scholar and university lecturer at the Faculty of Law of Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu. His academic work lies at the intersection of legal theory, canon law, legal sociology, comparative law, and the historical development of law. He holds PhD degrees in both theology and law. His research interests include European and comparative religious law, Church-State relations, the legal position of religious communities and the relationship between canon law and contemporary human-rights standards. He teaches subjects including General Theory of Law, Legal Sociology, Romanian Legal History, and Comparative Legal Systems.
